In the process of navigating her own trauma history of living through the revolution and war and escaping Iran with her family in the early 80s, Mahshid discovered her love of writing.
Her short story “No Way Back” was published in an anthology titled Shaking The Tree – brazen. short. memoir in 2018.

“No Way Back” – A One-Woman-Show
Mahshid’s short story about her family’s journey out of Iran has been made into a play which will be available for viewing from November 14th, 2020 to December 13th 2020. The show is produced by The Roustabout’s Theatre Company and features Jessica John Gercke as young Mahshid.
“No Way Back is the true story of one family’s desperate escape out of Iran in 1981. We watch through the eyes of ten-year-old Mahshid as her country is cast into revolution, turmoil, and war. Her family’s secret escape out of the country will keep you on the edge of your seat until the very last scene.”
